Just felt like writing something today. Felt like crapping, i would say. So, here goes my crap. Humans are creatures that are always living in dilema...deep down, we want to do something bad, yet somewhere in our brains will tell us that it's not morally upright. We need unhappiness to make us realise that there's happiness around and yet, its ironical how much we wish to drive unhappiness away. When it is quiet, we yearn for some noise (and what we usually do is listen to music) and when its rowdy, we find it irritating. It seems like we live in a world of greyness, with no define areas of black and white but just many shades of grey. When i'm alone, it seems like i have another character, one which i'm not sure of and i doubt many people around me would have discovered. Ha, maybe i'm a little unwell or maybe i just find silence insufferable. I wish i can find someone who can tell me who i really am but i doubt so. Highly. I can't even tell who i am, let alone the others, who probably have seen only the teensy weensy bit of my character.
Anyways, i can only say that humans are animals that are highly complex. Maybe the rest whom i know of are not what they seem to be, cause its very hard to tell whats up in people's brains.

It is true that freedom of expression is paramount to democracy, as quoted from John Stuart Mill, if a view is not “fully, frequently, and fearlessly discussed,” it will then turn into “a dead dogma, not a living truth.” However, I believe that the freedom of expression should be one that allows people to have the freedom of saying what they like, at the same time, not at the expense of the mutual respect among people. There is a likelihood of anyone getting upset if his or her faith or even culture is being mocked at, as the basic respect was not even shown towards them.
Especially when we are living in a country like Singapore, where there is cultural and religious pluralism, all the more we should show respect to people of different culture and religion and learn to appreciate their beliefs. Furthermore, it is shown through the actions of the government that it does not wish that the interest of people being sacrificed in place of the freedom to express. At home, we have had two Singaporeans being charged, fined and jailed, for a day and a month respectively under the Sedition Act because they have posted racist remarks on their blogs. This acts as a deterrent for Singaporeans to be aware of the mutual respect they should have for each other while enjoying the freedom to express.
All in all, we, should be responsible for what we are going to say or do as this might hurt someone’s feelings unknowingly. Having certain unpleasant things to be censored is definitely good for us, especially towards development of children and teenages. There are certain undesirable habits which children and teenagers pick up from their parents, like the usage of vulgar language, smoking, gambling, and also drinking. Imagine if children and teenagers are exposed to more of such things consistently from the media, they will feel that it is socially acceptable to pick up such habits since it is frequently seen or heard in the environment which they grow up in.
Some may say that there is too much censorship going around and sometimes, it causes the audience to miss out some parts which may be considered essential to bring out the essence of that particular thing. However, we should understand that it may only be censoring of one or two words, or sometimes, a scene that lasts only a few seconds in a show. If such little amount of content is being censored, I believe, it would not have an effect so huge that it would cost the essence of a video or a story.
Some may also feel that being exposed to censored materials does not mean that people will start to follow steps. However, we would have to understand that, not every single one of us may be matured enough to conduct 'self-censorshup', especially for youngsters , the one at an age that is most susceptible to the influences from the environment as they are still in the process of finding themselves.
Censorship in Singapore is considered desirable as it is pitched at different levels, considering individuals having a different level of maturity at different stages of their lives. For example, not long ago, the government in Singapore has come up with a new age category known as M18, or matured 18, to allow people to be able to view movies that are thought to be suitable for 18 year olds who have yet to reach 21. This goes to show that censorship in Singapore is reasonable.

We all know that laws exist so as to keep our society safe and sound for each and everyone to live in. However, it has been commented that the laws in Singapore is too stringent and that death penalty is used 'casually' especially for drug trafficking. Some felt that such capital punishment is too harsh on the criminals. Then, the question we would ask over here is, is death penalty something that is fair and just?
Personally, I feel that it is important for the law to come down hard on people. With a set of strict laws, people will be discouraged to turn to crime to solve their problems as they understand the consequences of it. For example, people will tend to seek help from organizations if they are unemployed or in need of money instead of turning to crimes like robbery, stealing or even trafficking drugs as ways to get money. Understanding the consequences that they and their families would have to face with, it is likely that they will discard the idea of committing crimes. In turn, this will then result in lesser social problems and a safer place for us to live in.
Also, with criminals getting their due punishments, it will help to warn the public that they should not act recklessly and they should think before they act. Especially for murdering and trafficking of drugs which is something grave that will not just cost the lives of others, but also the crime committers. Although it is not encouraged for us to repay violence with violence, but criminals should understand that everything comes with a price to pay, and in this case it would be paying it with their own lives since they have taken someone else's. Some may think that it is inhumane and unnecessary fro the law to take soemone's life just because of one mistake made. However, if we look at the harn that the person has caused and how he might continue with it in the future, we will have to consider the welfare of the society.
In some sense, we all have to understand that death penalty actually plays and important role in our society to a certain extent. We canot just abolish it because it is considered as an act of cruelty. If not, many would be let off scot-free despite of the terrible things they have done to others.

My name is Wong Wan Mun, commonly known as “one month” among my friends because the pronunciation of my name is quite similar to it. I am already seventeen! A marvellous age to enjoy my life.
Having enough of the rough introduction, here is a little something about the inner side of me. Please sit back and digest! :)
Firstly, I am a very straightforward person who likes to speak whatever that is in my head. In other words, you can say that I think verbally. To me, this characteristic of mine is a double-sided blade. It may be an advantage and yet a disadvantage, as I may offend many people along the way unknowingly.
Secondly, I like watching anime, reading comics and novels. It may seem to you that I love to read but the fact is, it all depends on the reading material that is handed to me. *Winks evilly*
Lastly, I am an extrovert, not an extreme one though. Do get near me if you are an introvert, I will help you to warm up! It is not that I am trying to chase the extroverts away. In fact, I would like to befriend anyone who is around!
